Finnish metal project MAGNADUR is set to release its brand-new single “Eat the Bat” on August 14, 2026, introducing a particularly catchy and distinctive side of the project.

While MAGNADUR has built its identity around heavy, melodic and dark metal, Eat the Bat deliberately takes a slightly different approach. At the heart of the song is an extremely memorable and infectious chorus that gives the track a genuine earworm quality. And that is exactly what makes the song stand out.

A true metal earworm

Eat the Bat does not immediately reveal its biggest hook. The song takes its time to build, creating an unusual and playful atmosphere before eventually arriving at its highly repetitive and catchy chorus. Once that hook appears, however, it is difficult to get it out of your head.

The combination of heavy instrumentation, unusual sounds, powerful guitar work and a memorable vocal hook gives the track a personality of its own. This is not simply another straightforward metal release: it is MAGNADUR with a stronger focus on immediacy, melody and pure catchiness, while still retaining the heavier character that listeners have come to associate with the project.

Heavy riffs and unusual sounds

One of the strongest aspects of the single is the guitar work. Eat the Bat features powerful and distinctive riffs, combined with unusual sonic elements that help create an identity of their own. The production allows the heavier sections to hit hard while giving the chorus enough space to become the central hook of the track.

And then there is the vocal element. The repeated hook gives the song its unmistakable character, while the longer vocal expression that follows adds another recognizable element — something that could become one of the trademarks associated with this particular era of MAGNADUR.

A different side of MAGNADUR

What makes the track particularly interesting is that it doesn’t attempt to simply repeat what MAGNADUR has done before. Instead, it explores a more playful, immediate and hook-driven side of the project.

That does not mean abandoning the heavier foundation — quite the opposite. The riffs, atmosphere and metal production remain firmly in place, but the songwriting places much more emphasis on creating a song that listeners can remember after just a few listens. In an increasingly crowded metal landscape, that can be a powerful quality.

From MAGNADUR

MAGNADUR is the Finnish metal project of Tomi Perrakoski, who has built an extensive independent catalogue since the project’s beginnings in 2024. The project has already accumulated nearly 1.6 million Spotify streams, with multiple songs surpassing significant streaming milestones.

With an extensive catalogue already behind him, Perrakoski continues to develop the MAGNADUR sound through new releases and increasingly ambitious material. Eat the Bat represents another step in that evolution — but this time with an especially infectious hook at its centre.
